We’ve recently completed a 1.0 of our new Typesetting Plugin, yay!

This plugin was developed as an optional stage that can be used to replace the Production and Proofing stages by wrapping them into a single looping stage. Now you can assign a typesetter, receive their response and immediately send it out to the authors for proofreading (or proof it yourself) without having to make the article between stages. Once the proofing is complete you simply add a new round if you want to send it back to the typesetter for correction, or if the feedback is positive, accept and get ready for publication.

During development of the plugin we worked very closely with Dr. Rose Harris-Birtill, Editorial Manager at the Open Library of Humanities/Birkbeck to develop the interface and accompanying guide (massive thanks to her for agreeing to help!)

Janeway Typesetting Interface

The new interface retains the general Janeway aesthetic with the main block on the left and the help and action buttons on the right.

Janeway Typesetting Interface with Content

Here is an example of the new interface populated with some dummy data. We can see that a Typesetter was assigned (and had their task cancelled) and an Author and an Editor were asked to Proofread the paper.
